Hendricks County Community Shows Support for Hoarded Dogs

Danville police arrested a resident Aug. 11 after neighbors reported dogs loose; officers removed 13 dogs from the home and took them to the Hendricks County Animal Shelter, where several tested positive for canine parvovirus. The shelter has closed temporarily for deep cleaning and quarantine and is soliciting monetary and supply donations.

A July 25, 2026 article said Washington Township Avon Fire Department listed a yellow 2005 E‑ONE Spartan Engine Pumper (1,500 GPM) on Municibid; the listing said the truck “runs and pumps,” had 103,617 miles, and that the online auction was scheduled to close July 26, 2026 with proceeds returning to the department.

Danville preschool and Village of Avon host visiting tortoise during Hendricks County stop

A 55‑pound African spurred tortoise named Olli was brought to Hendricks County by owners KayLynn Neal and Wes Denton during a cross‑country RV trip; Olli visited a Jamestown farm, met students at Snoopy School in Danville and spent time with family and residents at the Village of Avon.
