Noblesville board approves INDOT right-of-way at Hazel Dell as Ind. 32 widening heads toward 2027–29 construction

Superintendent Daniel Hile updated the board on the strategic plan’s compassionate care and support pillar, noting staff completed a voluntary Project Aware survey. Project Aware is a federal grant program funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; survey comparisons with data from a few years ago showed greater awareness of the program and that staff believe student and staff supports are stronger than two years ago. Hile said the district has two years of Project Aware funding remaining, through September 2028, and will explore ways to sustain the work.

The board also approved a right-of-way acquisition at Hazel Dell Elementary related to the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Ind. 32 improvement between East Street in Westfield and Mensa Drive in Noblesville. To accommodate the planned widening and other work, the state will permanently acquire 0.203 acres at the far west end of the school’s property and obtain a temporary easement of 0.239 acres for construction and grading. The INDOT project calls for widening to four lanes, roundabouts, drainage and utility upgrades and multiuse paths, with major construction phases planned for the 2027–29 seasons.
