Walmart awarded $250,000 to the Indy Chamber to back a five-month regional planning effort to better connect workers, training programs and employers across Greater Indianapolis. The Indy Chamber announced a $250,000 Walmart grant to fund a five-month initiative to examine how existing workforce programs and partnerships in Greater Indianapolis can be better connected and scaled. The effort, which supports the talent goals of Accelerate Indy 2030, is led by the Indy Chamber with regional partners including CEOs of CICP, Ascend Indiana, The Indianapolis Foundation, United Way of Central Indiana, EmployIndy and Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.
The planning process will include regional labor-market research, mapping of current workforce assets and engagement with employers, educators and community organizations. Areas the coalition will explore include accelerated employer‑linked training, employer-backed career mobility pathways, work-based learning and earn‑and‑learn models, career navigation, and data- and skills-based hiring tools. The work will emphasize adults seeking greater economic mobility, including incumbent and dislocated workers, and aims to identify a focused set of high-impact strategies by the end of the planning period.
